“Vernachlässigte Zentren frühen Konsums” (Neglected Centers of Early Consumption).
Bubble gum vending machines are a worldwide phenomenon. For kids, they often bring along their first experience as customers. In Germany, these “centers of early consumption” started their rise after WW II. While still present in the streets, they often are signed by years and decades of use and misuse.
In this book photographer and designer, Michael Meinhard shares his images and thoughts after more than 10 years searching and photographing gumball machines in Germany.
