speical project
With this collaboration, we start our new initiative: supporting local events, promoting them before the event and reviewing after.
Pursuing the goal to drive awareness about local publishing communities, authors and titles, we collaborate with local organizations supporting them.
We are happy to showcase the most recent books from the Russian publishing community. Some of them came from newcomers, other — from established photographers and artists.

Organizers
FOTODOC is a venue where all those interested in documentary photography can attend exhibitions, discuss issues of interest and learn from each other.
FOTODOC sponsors ongoing meetings, master-classes, presentations, discussions and contests.
The Center aims at disseminating documentary photography as a form of modern art, as well as a tool for analyzing social issues; searching for new talents; bringing together all those interested in documentary photography, both professional photographers and amateurs to discuss the future of photography and the role photography and photographer play in society, explore photography techniques, and photography’s social and expressive values. FOTODOC finds it especially important to focus on socially beneficial visual projects.
FOTODOC regularly sponsors shows of world’s leading masters of documentary photography and young photographers, as well as displaying collections of rare images. Topics range from burning social issues and conflicts to ethnographic research.
We specialize in photography books.
We have issued more than fifty publications – from photo albums and educational literature to small-circulation ZINs and representative catalogs, within our own publishing program or at the request of customers.
For clients, which were such companies as Leica RUS, Canon, Fujifilm and Hasselblad, we provide services for the production and distribution of paper and electronic publications.
In addition, we organize exhibitions, festivals, portfolio reviews and seminars.
The publishing house participated in the organization and holding of World Press Photo in Moscow (2013-2016), Exhibitions of the Sochi project by photographer Rob Hornstra, exhibitions and master classes by Rafal Milach, 31DaysFotofest festival, Festival of contemporary photography at VDNKh (2016), exhibitions of Sergei Maximishin and Alexander Petrosyan.
Russian Independent SelfPublished collective was founded in 2015 by Natalia Baluta, Elena Kholkina and Alla Mirovskaya.
We represent a group of independent artists and book-makers from Russia who prefers the freedom of self-publishing (Natalia Baluta, Elena Kholkina, Alla Mirovskaya, Julia Borissova, Jana Romanova, Anastasia Bogomolova and others). We feel some disconnection between global society and Russian-speaking photobook lovers. And we would like to engage in more active collaboration to connects authors with a broader audience.
One of our priorities is to showcase photobooks from independent Russian artists at international art and photo book fairs.
