I am an Italian photographer, currently working on Lake of Como and sometimes around the world.
Self-taught, I approached photography in 2017 after over 30 years in the software industry.
In 2020 I started to organise a series of shootings in a forest to produce a series of nude art images for the “Freedom” project – later I was published in more than twenty international magazines, including NUDE Magazine as well as on the prestigious web site 1x.com
In 2021 I understood that an image cannot be called a “photograph” until it is printed – so, if I want to call myself a photographer, it is imperative that I print.
So I started printing some of my work using an on-demand platform (Saal).
In the meantime, I started working on the “nudeartzine” project, which engaged me for most of the year producing a series of 31 volumes with a magazine cut: each issue includes a brief introduction about the photographer and about 40 images I personally curated from his submission. These “zines” are actually small monographs dedicated to 30 photographers and their own distinctive view about nude art.
The first volume, volume 00, contains my own images.
In 2022 I did not have much time to dedicate to “nudeartzine” so I produced one single 220 pages book, including the work of 37 photographers from 12 countries. This is a huge book compared to the zines, I decided not to crop any image, leaving space around them: a kind of “gallery” more than a “magazine”, if you like.
Meanwhile I realised that it is impossible to open a shop to sell fine art prints using an on-demand service, so I’ve bought an Epson professional printer to start learning the art of printing – now I can print up to A2 format and on roll papers as well !
At the beginning of 2023 Amazon decided that my publications are not following their guidelines, so my “nudeartzine” project had to die or to take a different direction…
After a period of bewilderment I printed a series of tests using different papers to find the best possible balance between quality and price and the first publication of the “nudeartzine” project – entirely produced in my studio – will see the light before the end of 2023.
Each issue will be a limited edition and some will be offered also here on ThePhooks.
