Roelant Meijer (1971) photographs at the intersection of landscape photography and travel photography.
The landscape photography tells a travel story. Or travel photography shows the landscape as a story. Walking is an essential part of taking photos. By walking you have more opportunity to experience the landscape as an entity and become a part of it, and then the photos show themselves to me as a logical consequence.
Particularly empty areas appeal to the imagination because there is infinite space and that gives room for new possibilities, new ideas, and defies the desire for discovery: what can still be seen there, or beyond the horizon.
