Trees are melting, ground is shaking, girth is cleaving fast. Kellie Bornhoft’s practice works to understand our human relationship with our environment by complicating the dichotomy between the natural and unnatural.
Bornhoft seeks narratives needed in a warming climate. Scientific data and news headlines do plenty to evince the precarious state of our environment, but the abject realities of such facts are hard to possess.
Bornhoft uses sculpture, installation and video to make tangible the experience of living in our changing planet. In shifting scale and positionality, she draws between the sublime of precarious times and the personal quotidian experience.
Kellie Bornhoft is an artist and writer working in Columbus, Ohio where she is currently a MFA candidate in Sculpture + Extended Media at The Ohio State University. Bornhoft has exhibited internationally in museums and galleries such as the Contemporary Art Museum in Raleigh, North Carolina, and Kulturanker in Magdeburg, Germany.
Bornhoft’s work has been reviewed in many publications including Frieze Magazine, Burnaway, INDYweek and ArtsATL.
