Jongerius is a follower of the ‘slow journalism’ approach. She uses this way of working to put controversial topics in a different light. She made a photo seriesabout plastic surgery, refugees and palm oil. She approaches her subject with empathy and in search for nuance.
The photo series she made about refugees resulted in a photo book, called A sense of home. This book was nominated for the UNSEEN dummy award and the pictures were, among other things, exhibited at the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science and at gallery Cokkie Snoei in Rotterdam.
